Dua For Fasting in Ramadan and Breaking Fast For Iftar with Its Benefits

Dua for fasting in Ramadan is the dua that Muslims recite after doing suhoor or sehri (the meal before fasting) early in the morning before the salah of Fajr.

Fasting in Ramadan has immense benefits on the body and it’s the most important month for Muslims all over the world. Prophet Hazrat Mohammed (ﷺ) (pbuh) said Fasting is the Zakat of the body.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise till sunset every day. The Ramadan fast can be a natural and effective way for the body to detox and revitalize itself.

But this can only happen if you follow a healthy eating plan and do not overindulge in Iftar. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoid things that contain caffeine.

Caffeine dehydrates your body fastly and makes you feel very thirsty during the fasting hours. Therefore, never forget to take at least 5 to 6 hours of sleep daily which will make you more productive.

Benefits of Fasting in Ramadan on Human Body

Let’s know why Ramadan is one of the healthiest things a person can do in their life with the medical benefits of fasting in Ramadan.

These are just some of the physical and medical benefits of fasting that will take place within the Human body but the spiritual benefits of this month are far greater than anything mentioned here.

Weight Loss and Diabetes

Who just doesn’t want to lose a little bit of weight, Intermittent (continue) fasting during the month of Ramadan is a great way to shut the pounds. Ramadan is an intermittent fasting process that restricts energy for a month causes weight loss.

International Journal of Obesity posted an article in nature that Intermittent energy restrictions impact a good weight loss on your body in comparison to ordinary dieting. In the fasting state, the body switches from using glucose as a source of energy to using fat.

In fact, fasting is more than just fat loss, The Lancet study shows that fasting has the power to cure diabetes. The study was so powerful that the national health service in the UK, now offers fasting for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

Brain Development

In Ramadan, Muslims go through every day by fasting only during daylight hours and feeding after sunset. Again one article from nature explains how this process is the key to the development of the Brain.

Fasting teaches the cells to develop new metabolic pathways to deal with cellular stresses. In their own words, this process can enhance cognition and protects neuron against dysfunction and degeneration.

But the story doesn’t end here, once Ramadan fasting is over and we start feeding again, our brain responds by promoting the growth of new brain cells and new connections between brain cells.

This is known as synaptic plasticity, this is a feature of the brain to promote intelligence so that the individual in the next period of fasting might more easily find new sources of food.

Increasing Lifespan

Fasting has been found to increase the lifespan of multiple different species. Studies found that calorie restrictions extend lifespan in multiple organisms.

The Holy Quran from 1400 years ago summarised all this in a simple short statement and now many people do after studies found the importance of fasting on the human body.

“Fasting is good for you if you only knew”

The Holy Quran (2:185)

Cancer Prevention

When the body enters the fasted state, levels of insulin falls, and this kicks off the host of cancer-preventing mechanism.

The experiment in mice has shown that intermittent fasting kicks off the DNA repair mechanism faster after fasting and stem cells that should have died with chemotherapy survived.

In fact, so positive is the effect of fasting on DNA repair that some physicians are thinking that intermittent fasting could be used in the future as an important lifestyle change to its survival in cancer patients.

Epilepsy and Depression

It is been found that the ketogenic diet has a role in helping to prevent epilepsy with intermittent fasting regarded as a promising candidate.

Intermittent fasting has also been found to have an anti-depressing effect on different levels of depression in Humans.

What happens to your body when you fast for 30 days in Ramadan?

  • Stage 1: During the first couple of days of fasting both blood sugar level and blood pressure drops. The body starts the cleansing process and the first few days are the hardest as they are usually accompanied by headaches, dizziness, nausea, and intense hunger.
  • Stage 2: During the second stage the body becomes accustomed to the fasting schedule and the digestive system is able to rest.
